Virtual Workshops
ElevateWBL virtual workshops are focused on practical outcomes, helping CTE educators implement effective strategies to build partnerships, create top-tier work-based learning activities and manage strong and active advisory boards. Each sessions lasts 45 minutes with 10 minutes for questions; most include a relevant ElevateWBL guide for distribution to attendees.
How to find and engage employer partners
Finding partners is one of the most common challenges faced by CTE programs, but there are a lot of ways in which you can build a large stable of active employers. This workshop explains what partners want and how to speak to them; how to build recruiting systems to help them find you; and the individual actions you can take to connect with employers from across your community. Includes the ElevateWBL guide “Educator’s Guide to Employer Engagement.”
How to build an engaged and effective advisory board
Advisory boards are one of the most powerful tools available for connecting with your business community and ensuring program quality and relevance. Learn how to make your board work for you by understanding how to turn your board members into active, enthusiastic partners, and how you can structure your board to accomplish things that will power and transform your program. Includes the book “The Advisory Board Advantage” as a PDF (printed copies extra).
Designing effective work-based learning activities
Work-based learning is a cornerstone of an effective CTE program, but only when the experiences contribute meaningfully towards a student’s career journey. This workshop covers all the elements of a high-quality work-based learning program, including how to set student and business outcomes, how to structure a high-quality experience, and how to monitor progress and evaluate outcomes. Includes two ElevateWBL Turnkey WBL guides selected by the client.
Setting up effective virtual WBL activities
Virtual work-based learning activities open up new opportunities for students, allowing them to connect with employers in new ways while building their digital skill set. This session will help you navigate the transition from traditional place-based programs to effective virtual alternatives, covering everything from guest speakers to internships, providing guidance on creating your own activities and offering a list of vendors offering additional opportunities. Includes the ElevateWBL guide “Educator’s Guide to Virtual Work-Based Learning.”
Building strong rural WBL programs
Rural CTE programs face multiple challenges, including the absence of a diverse employer base and hurdles around travel and transportation. But there are ways that schools can manage these challenges to offer students a strong work-based learning experience. Join us during this workshop to review several options for supporting rural CTE programs. Includes the ElevateWBL guide “Educator’s Guide to Rural Work-Based Learning.”
